These terms cover your use of the NowFocus apps and this website. By installing or using NowFocus you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use it.

Using NowFocus

You may install and use NowFocus for your own personal, non-commercial use, on devices you own or are allowed to manage. Don’t copy, resell or reverse-engineer it except where the law lets you.

Don’t use NowFocus to monitor or restrict another person’s device without their knowledge and agreement.

Early software

NowFocus is early software and its features will change. Some platforms and features aren’t available yet. Expect bugs, and expect that an update to your operating system or to another app (for example, a redesigned YouTube screen) can stop part of it from working until we ship a fix.

A self-control tool, not a security boundary

NowFocus helps you resist impulses by adding friction. It is not a lock on your device. Someone who owns the device can still uninstall the app or revoke its permissions, and on Android only one VPN can run at a time. Don’t rely on NowFocus for anything where a failure could cause harm.

Commitment Shield

When you lock sites into the Commitment Shield (on Android, apps too) you get a 60-second window to change your mind. After that, the app won’t let you remove or shorten the lock for 14 days. Only lock what you’re sure about. Locked sessions likewise have no early exit before the timer ends.

Not medical advice

NowFocus is not a medical or therapeutic product. It doesn’t diagnose, treat or cure any condition, including addiction, gambling problems or sleep problems. If you’re struggling, please talk to a qualified professional.

Your content

The people, goals, voice notes and rules you add stay on your device and are yours. Only add someone’s phone number if you’re entitled to have it.

No warranty

NowFocus is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost time, data or opportunities, arising from your use of NowFocus. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms or the apps. If we change the terms, we’ll update the date above. Continuing to use NowFocus after a change means you accept it. You can stop using NowFocus at any time by uninstalling it.
